বাঙালি ছাত্রের নকশায় অলিম্পিকের মুদ্রা

লন্ডন অলিম্পিকের স্মারক মুদ্রা হবে বাংলাদেশি বংশোদ্ভূত ছাত্র সায়মন মিয়ার নকশায়।

২০১২ সালের এ অলিম্পিকের আসর বসার আগে স্মারক মুদ্রার নকশা ঠিক করতে একটি প্রতিযোগিতা হয়। আর তাতে নির্বাচিত হয়েছে বার্মিংহ্যাম স্কুল অব আর্কিটেকচারের ছাত্র সায়মনের (২৪) নকশা।
যুক্তরাজ্যের মুদ্রা অনুমোদনকারী সংস্থা ‘রয়েল মিন্ট’ নির্বাচিত নকশা প্রকাশ করেছে। তাদের ওয়েবসাইটে এজন্য সায়মনকে অভিনন্দনও জানানো হয়েছে।
মুদ্রার মাঝখানে লন্ডন নগরীর স্কাইলাইন ও বিভিন্ন ক্রীড়ার ছবি রেখে বিচারকদের নজর কাড়েন সায়মন। ৫ পাউন্ড মূল্যমানের এ মুদ্রার নকশার জন্য পাঁচ হাজার পাউন্ড পেয়েছেন তিনি।

মুদ্রার নকশার বিষয়ে সায়মান বিডিনিউজকে বলেন, “ব্রিটিশ ঐতিহ্য ধরে রেখে আমি একটি ক্লাসিক্যাল নকশা আঁকার চেষ্টা করেছি।”

“লন্ডনের ঐতিহ্যবাহী ল্যান্ডমার্ক সেন্ট পলস, বিগ বেন ঘড়ি ইত্যাদির সঙ্গে স্কাইলাইন এবং মুদ্রার পাশে অলিম্পিকের বিভিন্ন খেলার চিত্র এঁকে আমি নতুন ও পুরাতনের মিলন ঘটাতে চেয়েছি,” বলেন তিনি।

অলিম্পিকের সঙ্গে স?পৃক্ত হতে পেরে আনন্দিত বার্মিংহ্যামের মজলির বাসিন্দা সায়মন বলেন, “এ চিত্রকর্ম বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন দেশের মানুষের হাত স্পর্শ করবে। একজন ডিজাইনার হিসেবে এটা আমার জন্য অত্যন্ত সম্মানের বিষয়।”

বিশ্ব ক্রীড়াঙ্গনের সবচেয়ে বড় আসর অলিম্পিক এবার হচ্ছে লন্ডনে। আগামী বছরের ২৭ জুলাই শুরু হয়ে ১২ অগাস্ট পর্যন্ত তা চলবে।

সায়মনের পাশাপাশি প্যারা অলিম্পিকের জন্য ৫ পাউন্ড মূল্যমানের আরেকটি স্মারক মুদ্রা ছাড়া হচ্ছে। এতে নির্বাচিত হয়েছে ব্রিটিশ তরুণী পিপা স্যান্ডারসনের নকশা।
